Ubuntu 18.04 is reaching EOL. Start Planning To Upgrade!

Ubuntu 18.04 is reaching End of Standard Support on May 31, 2023. This means that it will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or new features from Canonical – the company behind Ubuntu.

If you’re still using Ubuntu 18.04 on your servers, we highly suggest you start planning to upgrade to a newer version of Ubuntu sooner rather than later.

To help you with the upgrade process, we have prepared a detailed article that explains the benefits of upgrading to the latest Ubuntu version and the best practices for migrating to it.

We strongly recommend that you read the article and follow the instructions to upgrade your servers before May 31, 2023.

Note: We will also be discontinuing support for TLS 1.0 – a decision that aligns with industry standards and best practices to maintain a more secure environment for all of our users (also discussed in the post linked above).

You can expect an email with more information about this soon & as usual, our support team is always here to help.

Why are all clients getting this email, even when they don’t have 18.04 servers?

Hey Nick – great question. This was a general notification sent to everyone because, since RunCloud supports Ubuntu-based servers, there’s a good chance people use Ubuntu elsewhere (maybe have other servers, not all of which are connected).

This way, we can help everyone ensure they’re keeping those up-to-date. And also, quite simply because, at least as of present, we’ve chosen not to track this sort of usage data in our email service provider for privacy reasons.
