πŸ†• Automated Removal of DNS Records When Deleting Web Applications & Servers

As some of you may have already spotted on our changelog, earlier today – we shipped a minor but important improvement to the deletion of web applications and servers:

Deleting a server or web application can sometimes leave DNS records behind. If that IP address (or target) is later reassigned, your domain could unexpectedly start pointing somewhere else – commonly referred to as dangling DNS and subdomain takeover.

RunCloud now gives you an option to automatically remove DNS records.

This can be done when deleting a web application:

As well as when deleting an entire server:

And, in both cases, you will be able to verify and confirm which DNS records will be removed:


A new version of the RunCloud agent has also been released (v2.15.2+4):

What’s New

  • Improved incremental backup handling for databases
  • Improved web application size calculation and handling logic
  • Resolved wildcard domain matching issues in Apache configuration

Deployment Information

  • This update will roll out automatically to all compatible servers within 72 hours.
  • No action is required. The update installs seamlessly in the background.
